Nicholas Pooran, the Windies powerhouse, known for his blazing knocks in the IPL, once again rose to the occasion with a breathtaking knock, single-handedly guiding Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) into the next round of CPL 2025.
Chasing 167 against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons (ABF), the TKR skipper unleashed a brutal display of power-hitting, hammering 90 runs off just 53 balls. His eight towering sixes and three boundaries made light work of the chase, which was completed with ease in 17.3 overs.
Pooran's 'One-Man Show'
Nicholas Pooran walked in early after Colin Munro’s dismissal at 25/1 and immediately stamped his authority on the game. While Alex Hales provided steady support at the other end with a well-composed 54 off 40 balls, it was Pooran’s fearless hitting that broke the back of the Falcons’ bowling attack.
The left-hander targeted both spinners and pacers, refusing to let the asking rate build, and played the innings of the night to carry his team over the line.
Pooran Finds Partner In Hales
The skipper’s unbeaten partnership of 143 runs with Hales underlined his dominance, as he outscored his partner comfortably. With dew making conditions slightly easier for batting, Pooran cashed in and silenced the Falcons’ bowlers, who had no answers to his range of shots.
With those eight sixes, Pooran notably made it to the top 3 cricketers in CPL history with the most number of sixes. Kieron Pollard tops the list with 221 sixes, and Pooran sits in third position with his 201 sixes.
Antigua's Target Wasn't Modest Enough For TKR
Earlier, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons posted 166/8 in their 20 overs, riding on fifties from Amir Jangoo (55 off 49) and Andries Gous (61 off 45). Shakib Al Hasan provided late fireworks with a blistering 26 off just 9 balls, but disciplined bowling from Saurabh Netravalkar (3/23) and Usman Tariq (2/19) kept them to a below-par total on a batting-friendly surface.
In reply, TKR rarely looked troubled. Munro fell cheaply, but Hales anchored the innings while Pooran did the heavy lifting. Their unbroken stand ensured a nine-wicket win with 15 balls to spare, sending TKR into the Qualifier and knocking the Falcons out of CPL 2025.
