The first match of Pakistan's T20I series against New Zealand turned into a nightmare as they were bowled out for just 91 runs at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, on Sunday, March 16. This marked Pakistan’s lowest-ever T20I total against New Zealand and their fifth-lowest score in T20 history.

The team struggled from the start, unable to handle New Zealand's disciplined bowling attack, and lasted only 18.4 overs before getting bowled out.

New Zealand Shock Pakistan with Disastrous Low Score

Talking about the match, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first, and Pakistan’s troubles began immediately. Kyle Jamieson struck in the first over, dismissing Mohammad Haris for a six-ball duck. Soon after, Jacob Duffy removed Hasan Nawaz for a two-ball duck, leaving Pakistan in deep trouble. Jamieson struck again in his second over, sending Irfan Khan back to the pavilion, and by the end of the powerplay, Pakistan had crumbled to 14/4, with vice-captain Shadab Khan also falling early.

Despite some resistance from Khushdil Shah and Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan couldn’t recover. Khushdil managed to hit Pakistan’s first six of the innings off Ish Sodhi in the 10th over, but Sodhi soon dismissed Salman, reducing Pakistan to 57/5. Jacob Duffy returned to remove Khushdil, who was Pakistan’s top scorer with 32 off 30 balls. Jahandad Khan had a brief stay, hitting a lucky six when Tim Seifert dropped a catch, but he was dismissed soon after for 17 runs.

Pakistan’s tailenders couldn’t add much, as Zak Foulkes and Jacob Duffy cleaned up the remaining wickets. Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed were dismissed in quick succession, and Pakistan were all out for 91 in 18.4 overs.
