The inevitable happened as just before the start of the Mumbai Indians Vs Punjab Kings Qualifier 2 match, rain god decided to ruin the party as the entire square was covered. Interestingly, when the two teams were making their way out for the match, rain started pouring down and the sides had to go back in.

This is a crucial IPL 2025 match and rain will have a lot to say in the contest and could potentially decide the outcome. However, in this piece, we will talk about the drainage system at the Narendra Modi Stadium and how long will it take for the match to resume.

Narendra Modi Stadium's special drainage system

Just like almost all the stadiums in India, the Narendra Modi Stadium also has a top-notch drainage system. The venue is equipped with state of the art Sub-Soil drainage system which soaks the rainwater in less than 30 minutes, ensuring minimal delay in matches due to rain.

The subsoil system drains out 75mm of rainwater, which is three times that of normal. This system takes out the water almost 36 times faster than traditional method and hence, if the rain stops, the ground-staff will only take around 30 minutes to start the match.

Who will win if the PBKS Vs MI match gets abandoned?

Even though the stadium has a terrific drainage system, but it will only work if the rain stops. However, in case, the rain doesn't stop and the match gets abandoned, then there is no reserve day in place.

In such a scenario, the team with a higher position in the league table will go through to the finale. PBKS finished at the top of the league table and will progress through to the finale.
