After producing a magnificent knock of 90 in the first-innings for Australia, fast-bowling allrounder Mitchell Marsh delivered a body blow with the ball against Pakistan on Day 3, dismissing their modern-day stalwart Babar Azam with a terrific delivery in the Perth Test.

Marsh executed a perfect outswinger which Babar was forced to play from the over-the-wicket angle and could only edge the ball through to the wicketkeeper Alex Carey. The Pakistan giant was undone by a quality delivery from Australia's fourth seamer after having grind his way to 21* off 53 deliveries.

Looking set for a long haul at the crease, Babar saw Marsh put paid on his desires at the crease with a terrific ball that initially shaped up to come into the right-hander before leaving him late to fetch the outside edge. Given the initial angle, Babar had to play the line of the ball but was foxed by the last-minute movement.

The wicket arrived as Pakistan were beginning to settle in at 181/3 in response to Australia's daunting 487 all-out. Marsh got the hint of away movement after initially threatening to attack the stumps and extracted a natural rising bounce off the turf in Perth, which played a big role in the delivery taking the outside edge.

Finding the perfect length apart from line and movement, Marsh sent a ball which deserved a wicket. It was only cherry on the cake that it happened to be against Pakistan's big fish Babar, who would be disappointed to have missed out on a start at the crease, leaving runs behind him in the park.

The wicket once again reinforced Marsh's presence and impact value to the Australian team as he hammered a valuable knock in the first essay to stretch their total near the 500-mark and then delivered the biggest scalp with the ball to ease the task for the rest of the bowling attack.

For Babar, it meant his substandard run with the bat continued despite relinquishing captaincy duties in the aftermath of Pakistan's disastrous ICC World Cup 2023 campaign under his leadership.
