On Sunday, December 21, India U19 locked horns against Pakistan U19 in the much-awaited final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC academy in Dubai, UAE. The Boys in Green, batting first, rode on Sameer Minhas’s century as the 19-year-old scored 172 (113), which featured 17 fours and nine sixes.

India U-19 were tasked with a huge task to chase the mammoth total to lift the Asia Cup title. Eyes were on Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the two bright stars of the junior team. However, Ayush Mhatre crumbled under pressure and returned to the pavilion after a low score of 2 (7).

Vaibhav, on the other hand, got off to a brilliant start as he was batting on 26 (9), which featured a four and three sixes. However, he too failed to score big and broke a billion hearts by playing a reckless shot and throwing his wicket away to Ali Raza.

Fans upset over the nature of the dismissal

Just before Vaibhav’s dismissal, India were going nicely with 49/1 after just 4 overs. However, Aaron George was the next to go and threw his wicket away on the last ball of the 4th over. The situation was tight and required the 14-year-old to stay till the end to pull India out of the crumble.

However, on the very next delivery after his dismissal Suryavanshi swung his bat recklessly, free of the demand of the situation, resulting in a faint outside edge and his dismissal.

Things heat up after Suryavanshi’s dismissal

After the dismissal, Suryavanshi started to walk back to the pavilion, which is when he was disturbed by Ali Raza’s celebration and turned around to hurl a mouthful. The 14-year-old also made a gesture, where he pointed towards the bowler and then signalled his finger to the ground. Luckily things didn’t escalate and the batter then returned to the dug-out.

Suryavanshi’s successful campaign ends on a negative note

Vaibhav Suryavanshi got off to a brilliant start to the tournament as he slammed a 171-run knock off just 95 balls against UAE U19. He followed that knock with a fifty vs Malaysia. However, he had a downfall in the knockout stages and scored just 9 (6) v Sri Lanka and now 26 (10) vs Pakistan.

Talking about the ongoing match, Pakistan are in the driver’s seat, and India are 63/4 after 7.2 overs.
