In a last-over thriller, CSK beat LSG by 5 wickets to snap out of their losing streak. Batting first, Lucknow were restricted to just 166 despite Rishabh Pantโs 63 off 49. While Chennai initially flattered in the chase, MS Dhoni showed class with a nostalgic finish to get CSK through the finish line.
Hereโs how LSG vs CSK panned out in Lucknow:
LSG In Trouble After Explosive Top Order Fails
Lucknow Super Giants batted first but Khaleel Ahmedโs remarkable trend of picking wickets in the first over got rid of Aiden Markram. The batter tried to hit across the line, but the ball took the edge and flew in the air. Tripathi ran back, dived, and held on to a superb catch.
Moreover, young man Anshul Kamboj got the big fish of Nicholas Pooran. He trapped the orange cap holder in LBW dismissal to send him back on just 8 off 9 balls. Mitchell Marsh also couldnโt trouble the scoreboard, getting dismissed on 30 off 25 by Ravindra Jadeja.
Rishabh Pant Silences Critics With Sublime Half-Century
Meanwhile, LSGโs sinking ship was saved by out-of-form captain Rishabh Pant. He finally snapped out of his rough patch to hit a sublime half-century. With 4 boundaries and 4 sixes, he slammed 63 off 49 balls. Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad helped him with 22 and 20 runs respectively.
Owing Pantโs fifty and small contributions from the rest of the batting lineup, LSG finished with a total of 166 runs. For CSK, Noor Ahmad went wicketless but bowled a superb spell of 0/13. Pathirana conceded 45 runs but picked 2 wickets.
CSK Lose Wickets After Promising Start
In the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad, youngster Shaik Rasheed opened with Rachin Ravindra. Both stitched up a 50-run opening partnership in 4 overs. Rasheed looked positive on 27 off 19 but was undone by Avesh Khan.
Rachin also lost his wicket to Aiden Markram in an unusual dismissal. Coming around the wicket, Markram bowled a good length delivery on off stump. Ravindra went for a sweep shot but missed it completely, and the ball struck him on the back leg. The umpire raised his finger, and although Ravindra reviewed the decision, it was clearly out.

CSK ended up losing wickets in clusters. Rahul Tripathi and Ravindra Jadeja walked back on 9 and 7 runs respectively as Ravi Bishnoiโs dual blow reduced CSK to 96/4 at 12.2 overs.
MS Dhoniโs Exceptional Finish Guides CSK To Much-Needed Win

With the chips down, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni knitted a 50-odd runs partnership. Dhoni unleashed his inner finisher to pull off a vintage knock. He went after Shardul Thakur to hit him for 19 runs in the penultimate over.
Dhoni slammed 26 runs in just 11, entertaining the fans with his classic knock. With only 5 runs needed off the final over, Dube (43) hit the winning runs to seal a much-needed 5-wicket win for CSK. With that win, CSK snapped out of their losing streak to get their second victory of the season.
