Rajitha, Asalanka help Colombo Stars book a final clash with Jaffna Kings

Colombo Stars secured a six-wicket victory over Kandy Falcons in Qualifier 2 of Lanka Premier League 2022 on Thursday at Colombo. 

Hasaranga propels Falcons to a solid total

Choosing to bowl first, Kasun Rajitha was sensational to send Pathum Nissanka (2) and Andre Fletcher (0) back into the hut. Nevertheless, Kamindu Mendis (23) and Ashen Bandara (42) were impressive to steer the team at a brisk pace.

Afterwards, Wanindu Hasaranga delivered a terrific inning to slam 77* off 34 balls, with eight fours and three sixes. His knock helped Falcons to post 168 on the board. Rajitha was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets. 

Asalanka's charismatic knock steer Stars to a win

In reply to the chase, Stars lost Nishan Madushka (11) early. Then, the experienced Dinesh Chandimal continued his consistency to churn out 38 off 33 balls, while Charith Asalanka was impressive to be a strong support in the 90-run partnership. 

Soon, Asalanka was dismissed for a well-compiled 64 off 40, comprising seven fours and three sixes. Then, Ravi Bopara (29*) and Angelo Mathews (21*) again kept the nerves of steel to help the team with seven balls to spare.
