India vs England is one of the most underrated rivalries of cricket. However, when the two teams are out there amidst intense situations, the underlying competitiveness surfaces.
A similar incident was noticed between the young English batter, Harry Brook and India's pace bowler, Prasidh Krishna, while the latter was batting during the second innings. Notably, Krishna was trying to stretch the Indian innings while being cautious, as it was the last partnership of the team.
Brook's Mental Games Work Against Krishna
The defensive batting probably frustrated Brook, one of the prime faces of England's ultra-aggressive Bazball philosophy. In a video posted by Star Sports on their X handle, it could be heard that the stump mic caught the English batter teasing Krishna with the question - 'Can you hit big sixes?'
The Indian bowler did not step back and take it. Instead, he gave a cheeky reply. Krishna said, 'If I had to, I would be called Brook.'
However, that is where the Indian bowler's swag ended, as on the very next delivery, Krishna went for a big shot and got dismissed. The last smile was for Harry Brook to laugh.
Notably, India have posted a target of 371 runs for the English team to chase down in the final innings of the match. England have made a steady start to the chase and are posied at 21/0 at the end of Day 4.
Krishna-Brook Ready For Round Two?
When Day 5 of the Test match arrives, both Krishna and Brook will have to play key roles for their respective teams. The English batter is in fine form; he scored a brilliant counter-attacking 99 off 112 deliveries in the first innings. The team will be looking at him once more to play a similar sort of knock as the target ahead of them is challenging in a teasing way.
At the other end of the spectrum is Prasidh Krishna, who had a torrid time with the ball in the first innings. He picked up three wickets but at the cost of 128 runs in 20 overs (an economy of 6.40). India will hope that the pacer regains his IPL form and provides support to Jasprit Bumrah.
There is every chance that there will be an intense face-off between Krishna and Brook on the final day of the game. It will be interesting to see how Krishna responds to the situation and if he takes shots at the English batter.
