KAR vs PES Highlights [Source: @KarachiKingsARY/x.com]
Karachi Kings (KAR) held their nerve in a last-over thriller to edge past Peshawar Zalmi (PES) by 2 wickets in Match 11 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 at the National Stadium in Karachi. Chasing a tricky target of 148, Karachi stuttered through the middle overs but rode on skipper David Warnerβs composed fifty and a calm finish by Khushdil Shah to cross the line with just three balls to spare.
Earlier, Zalmi posted 147/8 with Babar Azam top-scoring but a disciplined bowling effort from Khushdil Shah and Abbas Afridi kept the target within reach.
Hereβs the timeline of how KAR vs PES panned out in Karachi-
Babar Azam Steadies The Ship With Wickets Falling
Peshawar Zalmiβs innings didnβt get off to the kind of flyer they would have hoped for. Saim Ayub was dismissed early as he was dismissed for just 4, leaving Babar Azam to do the heavy lifting.

The skipper tried to anchor the innings with a composed knock of 46 off 41. He played some crisp drives and rotated the strike well, but never really broke free.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Mohammad Haris tried to up the ante. Haris, in particular, looked promising with his 28 off 21, finding gaps and keeping the scoreboard ticking.

However, wickets kept falling at the wrong time and by the time Babar fell just before the halfway mark, Peshawar were still in second gear at 67/3 in 10 overs. The Kings' spinners, especially Khushdil Shah, put the brakes on, keeping Zalmi under a tight leash.

Alzarri Joseph Injects Late Fireworks
Just when it seemed like Peshawar might fall well short of a competitive total, Alzarri Joseph walked in and played a quick cameo. With Zalmi stumbling at 115/6 in the 17th over, Joseph came out swinging, slamming a 24 off just 13 balls to give the innings a late jolt.
Meanwhile, Khushdil Shah continued to spin a web around Zalmiβs middle order, ending with impressive figures of 3/20 in his 3 overs. Abbas Afridi also chipped in with a brilliant spell of 3/30, using his variations smartly at the death.

Despite the late push, Peshawar only managed 147/8 in their 20 overs, a total that felt slightly below par given the conditions.
David Warner Holds The Fort Despite Early Wobble
Karachi Kings' run chase got off to a nightmare start as Tim Seifert was trapped in front first ball and the scoreboard hadnβt even ticked when the Kings lost their first.

Things went from bad to worse as James Vince and Saad Baig also fell inside the powerplay, leaving Karachi wobbling at 42/3 in 5.3 overs.

But amid the chaos, David Warner stood firm, steering the ship. The skipper took time to settle but cashed in once the spinners came on. He kept the scoreboard ticking with well-placed boundaries and smart rotation, reaching his half-century off 39 balls.
Though wickets kept tumbling around him, Warner remained unflustered, anchoring the chase as the Kings reached 89/5 by the 13th over.

Khushdil Shah Brings Calm in the Storm
When Warner finally fell for a gritty 60 off 47, it looked like the game could swing either way as Karachi were 119/6 with just 28 needed off the last 21 balls, but they were running out of batters. Enter Khushdil Shah, who played the perfect finisherβs role under pressure.

With the match hanging in the balance, Khushdil kept his cool. He picked gaps, ran hard and even pulled out the occasional boundary to release pressure. Despite losing partners in Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal, Khushdil soaked up the pressure and finished unbeaten on 23 off 17 balls, guiding Karachi home with just 3 balls to spare.
Hasan Ali added the finishing touch with the winning boundary as Karachi Kings pulled off a nail-biting win and sent the home crowd into raptures.
