Namibia’s all-rounder Jan Frylinck lit up Bulawayo on Thursday with one of the most explosive innings ever seen in T20 internationals. Facing Zimbabwe in a thrilling clash, Frylinck reached his half-century in just 13 balls, equalling the joint third-fastest fifty in men’s T20I history.

In the 3rd T20I held at Bulawayo, Namibia batted first with opener Frylinck and Louren Steenkamp going berserk in the powerplay. In just 5 overs, the duo piled up 74 runs on the board before Tinotenda Maposa got a breakthrough.

Jan Frylinck’s Blitz Puts Him Alongside Yuvraj

Despite losing his opening partner, Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck didn’t hit brakes. He went on to torment the Zimbabwean bowling attack and reached his fifty in just 13 balls.

With this knock, Frylinck joined an elite list of players to record the fastest 50s in the T20I format in terms of balls.

The record is held by Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal, who hit a 9-ball fifty against Mongolia during the 2023 Asian Games held at Hangzhou. Right behind him is India’s Yuvraj Singh, famous for his 12-ball fifty against England in Durban during the 2007 T20 World Cup, a match remembered for six sixes in an over.

Jan Frylinck is now jointly the third fastest with the shared 13-ball mark of Mirza Ahsan (Austria, 2019), Muhammad Fahad (Turkey, 2025), and Tadiwanashe Marumani (Zimbabwe, 2024).

For Namibia, Frylinck's blitz is not about personal glory; it reflects their increased capacity to test larger teams in world cricket. The strike rate, power, and confidence he displayed will inspire teammates and fans alike, especially as the team prepares for upcoming ICC events.

Namibia Have Already Lost The Series

That being said, Namibia are fighting to save their pride against Zimbabwe, having lost the 3-game T20I series after a 5-wicket defeat in the second game. Earlier, they lost by 33 runs in the series opener. Regardless, the intent shown by the batters in the 3rd T20I is a positive sign and will boost Namibia’s confidence going forward.
