The 17th edition of Indian Premier League has turned out to be quite a thrilling ride, and now we are down to just three teams. Two of those, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will lock horns in the Qualifier 2 in a bid to make it to the final of the season alongside Kolkata Knight Riders.
It is a pressure game and with two quality teams going head-to-head, we can expect an intense contest at Chepauk.
SRH vs RR Qualifier 2: Previews
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Pat Cummins-led Orange Army have played some good cricket this season and managed to finish at top-2. However, they were thoroughly outplayed in the Qualifier 1 with both their batters and bowlers failing to deliver. They are a strong squad though, and have played some entertaining brand of cricket this season, something which we might see against RR too.
The stage for that attacking cricket has been set by their openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma who have 533 and 470 runs under their belt respectively with a strike rate of around 200. Rahul Tripathi has fit into number 3 in the last couple of games, and played a good knock in the last match when other players failed to deliver. Nitish Reddy, on the other hand, has been a find of the season while Heinrich Klaasen also showed signs of his best in the last match.

On the bowling front, the pace trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins and T Natarajan have complemented each other brilliantly, but the only worry has been the spin department where they are a bit light on experience. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has been preferred in the last few games, and for this one, we might see Mayank Markande back in the mix in this game. Aiden Markram can also come be brought back Sanvir Singh likely to miss the cut.
Overall, SRH are a strong team with plenty of quality options and let's see how they react after a crushing loss in the last game.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals were the team to beat in the first half of IPL 2024, but had to play the Eliminator courtesy a washout game and four consecutive losses to cap off the league stage. They showed character against RCB in the Eliminator though and all bowlers starting from Boult, displayed great discipline. They have two of the best spinners in the competition - Chahal and Ashwin and the way Avesh Khan bowled in the last game, will give the managemet a lot of confidence.
They are without Jos Buttler at the top of the order and though Tom Kohler-Cadmore showed good signs in the last game, the English captain's experience will be missed. Yashasvi Jaiswal batted well in the last game but he needs to convert hi start and if he does that alongside Sanju Samson, RR would be in happy place.
Riyan Parag at number 4 is showing all the ingredients of a top-notch cricketer while the return of Shimron Hetmyer proved to be a big boost against RCB. Powell too played a valuable knock under pressure in the Eliminator and it is all about how RR handle the pressure on the big day. They lost the game by just one run against SRH earlier this season, and they would be itching to avenge that defeat in the game that matters the most.

The pitches at the M.A Chidambaram have been a mixed-bag this season. There have been few 200-plus totals while in the later half we have seen some low-scoring games as well. The one in the this game is likely to be good for batting, but there will be bit of help for the bowlers as well, especially for the spinners.
The captain that wins the toss would most likely bat first with pitch expected to get difficult to bat in the second half, unless there is a good amount of dew. The straight boundaries are around 70m while square boundaries are around 67m, so there is value for shots and we might see a score around 180 in the first innings.
