Day One at Dominica has started right and bright for Team India as they began their session with spectacular grit.

Rohit Sharma and the Indian team seem determined to begin anew following their consecutive defeats in the WTC finals. The decisions to exclude Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav from the team, and instead include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar, indicate their intent for a fresh start.

These changes on the team roster demonstrate their willingness to try out different options and bring in new talents in order to rejuvenate the team and improve their performance. This match marked Test debut for both youngsters, Ishan Kishan and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The session has undeniably been a roaring start for the Indian contingent as they managed to break the WI top order right before lunch. Although West Indies won the toss, the team began to crumble almost immediately after the first half hour of the game. At the end of session one, its 68/4 off 28 balls.

Talking Points

No Fear When Ashwin Is Near

Can you believe it? This is the spectacular player that was asked to sit out against the Aussies just a month back at the WTC Finals. His range, experience and tact are just beyond comprehension. No.1 Test bowler for precisely this reason.

Ravichandran Ashwin struck early and provided India with a crucial breakthrough. In a classic dismissal for an off-spinner, Ashwin delivered a full and turning delivery on the middle and off stump and eliminated WI opener, Tagenarine Chanderpaul.

As Chanderpaul attempted to defend the ball by coming forward, he misjudged the line as the ball spun slightly after pitching and went on to disturb the stumps. This wicket came at a crucial moment and fulfilled India's hope for an outstanding beginning.

2 wickets-five overs, Ashwin At His Absolute Best!

It's Ashwin's Day, and we're just lucky enough to witness it. He claimed his second wicket by dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies captain. Ashwin delivered a flighted delivery, full and targeting the off stump.

Brathwaite who tried to play an aggressive shot, attempted a heave towards the leg side. However, he only manages to get a leading edge, sending the ball high into the air towards the fielder at cover. Skipper Rohit Sharma positioned himself well, and with full-focus on the ball, completed a comfortable catch.

With both West Indies batsmen now dismissed, India has certainly had an ideal start to this Test match.

Lord Thakur: The Man Who Came, Saw and Winded the Windies !

The Golden Arm is indeed shining high and bright! As Shardul Thakur scalped a wicket in his first over of the day. Ishan Kishan executed a forward diving catch behind the stumps, but the umpires referred the decision to the third umpire to determine whether it was a clean catch or not. The incident occurred during Shardul Thakur's 19th over. Raymon Reifer, the batsman, blocked a fuller length delivery towards cover.

As a result of the third umpire's review, Raymon Reifer was given out and another wicket to India's name.

Bye-Bye Blackwood, As Siraj Takes A Blinder

On the last ball before lunch, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a full-length off-break delivery on the off stump to Jermaine Blackwood. Blackwood, attempting a risky drive towards long off, mistimed the shot and the ball went airborne.

Mohammed Siraj positioned himself perfectly and took a comfortable catch, resulting in a soft dismissal for Jermaine Blackwood. He scored 14 runs off 34 balls before being caught by Mohammed Siraj off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling.

Expectations from Second Session

As the second session of the first day is about to begin, there are chances that the WI could crumble one by one and we could see India batting on Day One itself. So far, things have been looking great for Team India and they would look to build on to the same momentum.
