Cox, continuing the momentum after Smith's departure, contributed to a 53-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. All three wicket-keeper batters displayed great potential. After Smith and Cox set the stage in the top order, Usman Khan at number 5 showcased his skills in the middle overs, scoring 32 off 18 balls.

On the other hand, MI Emirates' bowling attack struggled to counter Fraser-McGurk and Gurbaz in their previous match. Despite Trent Boult's effective use of the new ball to outsmart Warner, the rest of the bowlers were unable to contain the opposition.

Emirates' batting lineup, featuring Muhammad Waseem's notable knock at the top, faced challenges as skipper Nicholas Pooran, Ambati Rayudu, and Corey Anderson failed to make a significant impact. Tim David managed a score of 27 off 22, but the team faced a defeat in their opening match against Dubai Capitals.

However, it didn’t work out well for Emirates in Dubai. Bowlers were fairly decent. Boult was special with the new ball. Apart from him, the rest of the bowlers were expensive. Bowling department must step up against the Giants.
