Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran shattered numerous batting records through the course of his run-fest against England in match eight of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Apart from becoming Afghanistan’s first ever cricketer in history to notch up a Champions Trophy ton, Zadran also became the highest individual scorer in a single innings in the tournament.

He soared past English opener Ben Duckett, who belted 165 runs against Australia less than a week ago at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran notched up his sixth ODI century through the course of his batting masterclass against England in Lahore. He also converted it into his magnum opus ODI score, going past the 162 he whacked against Sri Lanka back in November 2022.

Table: Highest Individual Scores In Champions Trophy

Moreover, Ibrahim Zadran now holds the record for listing the highest individual score in a single innings of a Champions Trophy game, going past England’s Ben Duckett in the process. Duckett mounted 165 runs from just 143 balls against Australia a few days ago at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

At the same venue, Zadran went past Duckett’s effort, against the English cricket team no less. The innings also marked only the second-ever 150-plus individual score to be recorded in a Champions Trophy game. The blistering opener was eventually dismissed for 177 runs from 146 balls by Liam Livingstone in the final over.

Notably, Afghanistan ended up mounting over 300 runs in the innings, despite falling to 37-3 earlier in the game after captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first.
