India have got off to a brilliant start against South Africa in the third T20I of the four match series at the SuperSport Park. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma have laid a brilliant foundation for a formidable total even after the early loss of Sanju Samson.
After the fall of Sanju Samson in the first over, Tilak Varma joined Abhishek Sharma in the middle and the duo took off. Both the batters thrashed the South African bowlers to all parts of the park and took the scoring rate of the Indian team to the double figure mark.
Aiden Markram Trusts The Experience Of Keshav Maharaj Amidst Ruthless Assault
Abhishek Sharma completed his half-century of just 24 deliveries and was looking ominous. He had already hit three fours and five maximums by then and could have batted the home team out if he stayed longer.
In the midst of some ruthless attack by the two left-handed batters, Aiden Markram turned to his experienced spinner Keshav Maharaj. On the fourth delivery of the ninth over, Maharaj brought his experience into play and gave South Africa the much needed breakthrough of Abhishek Sharma.
Keshav Maharaj's Experience Gets The Better Of Abhishek Sharma
After completing his half-century, Sharma was looking to shift gears further. Maharaj predicted the next move of the batter very cleverly. The experienced left arm spinners tossed up the delivery outside the off stump and out of the southpaw's reach. Sharma danced down the track and hand try and reach for the ball in attempt to clear the mid-wicket boundary.
However, Sharma was beaten by the angle and flight of the delivery and could not make any connection. Heinrich Klaasen behind the stumps collected the ball and whipped off the bails with Sharma way out of the crease. This marked the end of a short and fiery cameo by Abhishek Sharma.
