Match 35 of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022 witnessed the Hobart Hurricanes demolish the Melbourne Renegades by eight wickets. With this win, the Hurricanes are in the fifth position with nine points, while the Renegades continue to occupy the bottom spot in the WBBL 08 table.

Molly Strano derails Renegades

Asked to bat first, star openers Hayley Matthews and Chamari Athapaththu failed to get their side to a solid start. Molly Strano ran riot on her former side, getting the key wicket of Josephine Dolley.

Matthews added 20 runs before falling to Heather Graham. Skipper Sophie Molineux contributed just 12 runs to the scoreboard.

Strano cleaned up Hobart's late-middle order, picking up three wickets.

Only Courtney Webb provided some resistance, making a 36-ball 30 as wickets continued to tumble on the other end.

Their innings folded for 80 in 17.2 overs.

Elyse Villani's effortless chase

Chasing 81 to win, the Hurricanes lost Lizelle Lee in the third over to Molineux. She quickly got herself a second wicket, nabbing Mignon du Preez for 6.

However, skipper Elyse Villani stood her ground and snitched a partnership with Graham.

Villani scored a 34-ball 41, while Graham notched up a quick-fire 23 off 19, achieving their target in just ten overs.
