Pakistan miraculously reached the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, despite losing their first two Super 12 stage matches against India and Zimbabwe, respectively.
Loss against Zimbabwe was met with harsh and extreme criticism from former players, experts, and fans across the board. However, after winning their remaining games and a few results going in their favour, the Men in Green achieved the unthinkable.
As per an India Today report, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who had a lacklustre tournament so far, shined with the ball in their final group game against Bangladesh, claiming a 4-for. Afridi speaking after the match, hit back at former players and urged them to support the team through thick and thin.
"We reached the semi-finals because of fan's prayers. I sometimes feel in my heart that our top cricketers need to support us at our difficult time, and not when we reach semi-finals or finals. Team needs support when they lose. We won because of the fans' prayers and their support.”
