Prior to the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, a lot was expected of the Rajasthan Royals as they had added fresh faces in their squad. However, disaster struck as they lost Sanju Samson to an injury and moreover, they joined Chennai Super Kings in an unwanted IPL list.
Royals crash out of IPL 2025
After the defeat Vs Mumbai Indians, the Royals became the second team after CSK to crash out of IPL 2025. In 11 matches, they have lost 8 matches, and have only won 3 and it reflected on how poor the season has been for the inaugural IPL champions.
On Wednesday, Super Kings became the first team to bow out of the 2025 edition, and RR, now have joined the list as well. The team let go off several key stars prior to the season, including Jos Buttler, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal. However, the new faces added gave them a sense of optimism.
With three matches still left for them, the team will aim to salvage some pride and will also play a party spoiler for the other remaining teams who are fighting for a top-4 spot.
MI defeat RR in one-sided contest
RR needed a tricky 218 runs to stay alive in the tournament, however, disaster struck as both the dangerous openers in Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal departed cheaply.
Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Nitish Rana followed them back as the team lost half the side 5 overs. The lower order tried a bit with some big hits, but the target was always going to be far off as MI thrashed the Royals and won the contest by 100 runs to reach the top of the table.
