Vignesh Puthur, the young spinner who took 3 wickets on his IPL debut against CSK, was dropped from the playing XI by MI in their clash against GT. Fans, who were baffled by the decision, hit out at captain Hardik Pandya on social media.
Mumbai Indians appeared to have unearthed a special gem in Puthur when the 24-year-old made his debut in IPL in the MI vs CSK clash. In his very first game, the spinner picked up 3 wickets and conceded 32 runs in his four-over spell.
However, MI surprisingly dropped him from playing for their clash against GT held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Fans Lash Out At Hardik Pandya For Dropping Vignesh Puthur
Mumbai Indians faced Gujarat Titans on March 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hardik Pandya, who missed the last game due to suspension, returned to this match.
However, the team surprisingly dropped Vignesh Puthur and included Mujeeb Ul Rahman. Meanwhile, fans on the internet slammed MI for their baffling decision. Many blamed Hardik for making a costly mistake.

"Why vignesh puthur and jacks removed from playing 11? @mipaltan." - @linguTweetz
"Will Jacks out. Vignesh Puthur out after a good first match. Unimpressive Satyanarayana Raju still in. Mumbai Indians management has lost its mind." - @Vipul_Espeaks
That being said, MI were taken to cleaners as GT batted first and openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan unleashed carnage. The opening pair stacked up 66 runs in the powerplay, leaving MI in tatters.
