The Indian team is taking on England in the first match of the T20I series at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India won the toss for the game and opted to field first.
India had a good start to their proceedings as Arshdeep Singh picked up Phil Salt's wicket in the first over of the game. The left-arm Indian pacer soon picked up the wicket of the other opener, Ben Duckett and put the visiting team in further trouble.
It was expected that from here on, India would take control of the innings and not let the English innings prosper. However, the skipper of England, Jos Buttler, was not ready to submit without a fight. He started shifting the pressure on the Indian team by using a counterattack approach. Buttler belted four boundaries off Hardik Pandya in the fourth over of the match and set the English innings in motion.
Gautam Gambhir Changes Tactics From The Dugout
The Indian camp was seen under a bit of pressure. At this stage, the camera panned on the Indian head coach, Gautam Gambhir. He was seen giving directions to the team from the dressing room.
It looked like Gambhir was actively involved in the change of tactics of the team at the juncture. It seemingly worked for India as they soon picked up the wicket of Harry Brook, and that soon triggered another collapse for the visitors.
Gautam Gambhir was known for his captaincy in the IPL. It looked like he took up the role from outside the field of play when the team was under pressure. Whatever it may be, India would be happy that the change in tactics of the team made by Gambhir worked out in their favour.
