India have announced their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The team looks good and solid, with balance in all the departments.

Speaking of the Champions Trophy, the loss in the final of the previous edition against the arch-rivals still haunts the Indian cricket fans. In this article, we will look at three mistakes from 2017 that India has rectified during the squad selection of CT 2025, which could lead them to win the title this time.

3. Well Sorted Middle And Solid Middle Order

With the presence of players like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya in the team, the middle order looks more sorted for CT 2025 than 2017. The middle-order of the previous edition had names like Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, but they were past their prime at that stage. Besides the two batters, there was not much to fall back to with Hardik Pandya still relatively new at the highest level of the game.

For 2025, the middle order not only looks solid and stable but there seems to be more clarity for the player about their roles. Besides, the experience is also there to bail the team out of pressure during important games in the tournament.

2. Better Bowling Line Up

The best thing about the CT 2025 team is the form and momentum the team's best Jasprit Bumrah is carrying. Yes, he has a back issue ahead of the tournament, but he is expected to be fit when he takes the field during the upcoming tournament and brings out the best in himself.

Besides Bumrah, India will also have the likes of Shami, who, at his best, can destroy batting attacks alone. Along with the two experienced blokes, there is Arshdeep Singh, who can be effective for the team at any stage of the game.

While the pace attack looks solid and all settled, the spin department also seems to have plenty of variation. With Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, India have a spinner of all types barring a right arm-wrist spinner. Variation, flexibility, and stability seem to be the essence of Indian bowling in CT 2025, and that could be a big positive for them.

1. More All-Purpose Utility Players

India will be taking Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar for the tournament. These players can change a game's complexion with both the bat and the ball. This seems a big upgrade over the 2017 squad, as only Pandya and Jadeja could have impacted the game with both batting and bowling. Yes, there were Ravi Ashwin and Bhuvi Kumar, but their batting prowess was probably not equal to those of the players going for CT 2025.
