The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match will forever be remembered for the batting disaster-class shown by the home side, Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On a slightly tricky wicket, the Super Kings struggled for runs as they got bundled out for 154.
Unwanted record at Chepauk
Their new found opening pair of Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre couldn't deliver the goods together as Mohammed Shami, the SRH speedster dismissed Rasheed for duck when the scorecard read - 0/1 after 1 ball.
Similarly, when SRH came out to bat, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a 2-ball duck by Khaleel Ahmed. This became an unwanted moment for both the teams as this was the first instance at Chepauk when opening partnership in both the innings didn't score a single run. However, this was the tenth instance of such happening overall in the IPL.
This is not an everyday record in the IPL and happens only on rare occassions, with today being one of them.
SRH struggle to chase 155
The wicket slowed down in the second innings and SRH innings got off to a worse possible start as Abhishek Sharma departed for a duck. The duo of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan started the repair work and scored a couple of boundaries, but in a bid to increase the tempo, Head departed for 16-ball 19.
SRH will have their eyes on Ishan Kishan who is set and looks to regain his touch. The Orange Army have already lost 6 matches and another loss tonight could hamper their chances of qualifying for the knockouts. If they lose this match, then their hopes of qualifying will also depend on other teams' IPL journey.
