Gujarat Titans (GT) are the defending champions and they have played like one in this season too. They are at the top of the table still but this loss to DC will hurt them. They looked in control of the game right from the onset with Shami bowling a brilliant opening spell picking four wickets. However, DC somehow managed to get to 130 and then pulled off an incredible bowling performance to defend a low total against a strong GT batting line-up.

Hardik Pandya, the GT skipper batted till the end but just could not get going and GT ended up losing the game by 5 runs. Talking after the match, Pandya said that they would have taken 129 on any day and he tried hard but failed and they just could not get any rhythm in the innings.

"Obviously, we would have taken 129 on any given day. Just lost a couple of wickets but Rahul got us back in the game. I tried hard but failed to get across the line. We were hoping to get a couple of big overs in the middle overs. We couldn't get a rhythm as well,"

He also took the ownership of the loss and felt that he should have finished the game. He also applauded DC's bowling and added that they felt pressure due to loss of early wickets. He credited Rahul Tewatia for bringing them back in the game but it was not enough in the end.

"It comes down to me as I couldn't finish the game. But full marks for the way they bowled. The wicket didn't play much role. It was about us feeling the pressure due to the loss of wickets. Rahul got us back in the game but it wasn't enough. We kept losing wickets and it was difficult to keep the intent. That put us under more pressure,"

He also said that he feels sorry for Shami and added that ball did not do much and it was all about Shami's skills. He added that batters were disappointing in this game and he himself did not bat well at all.

"I feel sorry for Shami to be honest. The batters were disappointed tonight. The ball didn't do a lot. It was all about Shami's skills tonight. Full credit to him. But as I said, the batters were disappointing and I was not good at all."

GT will now play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on 5th of May at Jaipur.
