Fakhar Zaman run out [Source: @rifat0015/x.com]
The Pakistan cricket team is known for producing bizarre moments on the field, and time and again, they have found ways of getting dismissed weirdly. One such incident occurred during the first T20I match between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Sunday. The incident involved opening batter, Fakhar Zaman.
On a pitch which was slow and sluggish, Bangladesh elected to bowl first, and the decision paid off as the visitors lost half of their side within 46 runs on the board. The visiting team failed to adapt to the slowness of the wicket as the Tigers utilised the conditions perfectly. However, Fakhar Zaman, the opener stood tall like a brick wall before he, too, collapsed.
Fakhar dismissed in bizarre fashion
The left-handed batter score 44 off 34 balls and was marching towards his fifty when a disaster struck. Mustafizur Rahman bowled an off-cutter as Khushdil Shah played it towards the deep third man region, but the two batters had a huge mixup, as Khushdil called for a second run, but backed out at the last moment.
Fakhar was halfway down the crease as he had to crawl back, but the batter slipped while returning to the crease and the keeper dislodged the bails in a flash. The southpaw was furious with his partner as the duo had a chance to take Pakistan to a strong total. With Fakhar's dismissal, the Men in Green lost a huge hope of reaching a competitive total.
Fakhar repays faith by playing gritty knock
Ever since the T20 World Cup last year, Fakhar Zaman has only played a solitary T20I match for Pakistan. The left-handed batter was out from the side due to injury and disciplinary issues, but when he was brought back, a few months ago, question marks were raised.
In the first T20I, the team management preferred him over the in-form Sahibzada Farhan, but the batter responded with a composed knock which has taken Pakistan to a stage from where they can hope for a decent hope.
