The wait is over as India finally lock horns with England in the first T20I of the five-match T20I series. The match will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 22 January, Wednesday at 7:00 PM IST. It promises to be a thrilling encounter as the two mega-stars of cricketing world clash against one another.

India's squad for the five-match T20 series sees the return of pacer Mohammed Shami after a 14-month hiatus, while key Test players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant are rested. Newcomers Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Dhruv Jurel, replacing Jitesh Sharma, also feature. 

India, the reigning T20 World Cup champions, are unbeaten in bilateral series since their 2024 win in Barbados. On the other hand, England's squad includes changes, with captain Jos Buttler focusing solely on leadership, relinquishing wicketkeeping duties.
