After a match-defining spell of fast bowling from Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Sri Lankan import Matheesha Pathirana against Mumbai Indians (MI), the pacer is turning popular because of his celebration. The bowler whose action resembles his countrymate Lasith Malinga's action bagged figures of 3 for 15 in four overs to help his side halt the opposition for just 139 after the completion of 20 overs.
In the end, CSK returned home with six wickets in hand and registered their sixth win of the season with one being washout as they moved to the second position on the points table.
Pathirana was honoured with player of the match award and expressed his feelings saying that he has gathered confidence to perform on the big stage. Also, the right-armer talked about his viral celebration by mentioning that he has been a massive fan of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Really, it started from last year. I played two games in two seasons and now playing regularly. I am happy. They give me confidence and still do even today. Really, this is my best T20 figures in my career. So, I am happy. The eyes thing celebration is natural and I am a die hard fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. So, happy to contribute for the team and hope to do it moving forward for my team."
CSK will next clash against Delhi Capitals at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 10th May.
