South Africa's Quinton de Kock injures thumb; taken to hospital

In what comes as a massive blow for the Proteas side during the second ODI against England, powerhouse Quinton de Kock injured his thumb while keeping in the first innings. There was a slight delay when the incident happened, however, after that he was unable to take the field and was replaced was Heinrich Klaasen behind the stumps.

The injury occurred during the fifteenth over when De Kock tried to collect an Anrich Nortje delivery on bounce that was edged by Harry Brook. But wasn't able to collect it cleanly, hurting his thumb on the way. Later, he was taken to the hospital for scans with his report still being awaited.

The left-hander remains a vital cog in the South African side as his batting prowess will be required when they fight to keep their hopes alive in the race to directly qualify for World Cup scheduled in India for October-November.

With just four games left for the Temba Bavuma-led team, they are required to win atleast three as Netherlands are also scheduled to play them after this.

After the end of 36 overs, England are well-placed with 202 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets with skipper Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali still at the crease. Meanwhile, Brook played an excellent 80-run knock before departing.
