In a significant development, Sunrisers Hyderabad have drafted Mayank Markande into their playing XI as the impact player. Markande replaces Rahul Tripathi, who recorded a failure with the bat earlier.
Markande's inclusion was expected, as the surface in Delhi will assist spinners later in the evening. The right-arm leg spinner has enjoyed decent success in the IPL this season, scalping eight wickets in five appearances.
However, after getting a dream start and registering his best-ever bowling figures against Punjab Kings, Markande has been on and off, managing four wickets in as many games.
Speaking of Tripathi, the dynamic right-handed batter has had a topsy-turvy IPL 2023 campaign, managing 160 runs at an abysmal strike rate of 112.68.
Despite facing 21 deliveries, he managed only 15 runs against DC last time. He was even worse tonight, as could score only 10 runs before getting out to Mitchell Marsh.
Regarding the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a massive total of 197 runs, courtesy of blistering half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen and a useful cameo from Abdul Samad.
In reply, Delhi Capitals were off to a disastrous start, losing David Warner to Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a two-ball duck. However, Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh are toiling hard in the middle. As a result, the Capitals are 18 for 1 as of writing.
