In a shocking incident at the Chinnaswamy, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana encountered an ugly collision while taking a catch in the outfield. It was Jacob Bethell's catch in the fourth over who was going great guns, but the two CSK players misjudged each other's movement and ended up making a significant blunder.
Jacob Bethell Gets Dropped By Jadeja-Pathirana
Pathirana was hurt after the collision, and walked off the field immediately. His injury though was not a big one, and Pathirana eventually came back on the field. Talking about the collision and the drop catch, it was the fifth delivery of the fourth over.
Anshul Kamboj was the bowler and he bowled it outside off. Bethell went for a slog, but got a big top edge. The ball went towards the third man region, and Pathirana came charging in from deep backward point. Jadeja also covered lot of ground and ran towards the ball from the 30-yard-circle. Both of them went for the catch, but ended up hurting each other.
The drop catch hurt CSK as Jacob Bethell kept hitting his shots and ended up with his first fifty of IPL. Pathirana looked in pain and did not get up for a few minutes after the blow, and the physio was called up to treat him. Pathirana though was not fit to continue, and walked off the field. He came back with a bang after few overs, and removed Jacob Bethell.
The bowler then grabbed two more wickets, but RCB still managed to reach 213 with Romario Shepherd smashing 53 off just 14 balls.
