Zimbabwe players held their nerves to secure a one-run win in a topsy-turvy battle against Pakistan. Defending just 130, their bowlers floored a strong Pakistani batting line-up by restricting them to just 129 after 20 overs.

Star all-rounder Sikandar Raza was adjudged as 'Player of the Match' for his three-fer in the evening.

After the match, Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine expressed his excitement over securing two crucial Group B points against Pakistan. The cricketer hailed his bowlers for their collective efforts in the second innings, especially the speedsters for strangling Pakistan's run flow.

Ervine also singled out spinner Sikandar Raza for his tight four-over spell, which yielded three wickets for his side.

The stylish southpaw also hailed the special win, despite putting up a paltry challenge upfront with the bat. He claimed that his side was about 20 to 25 runs short in their innings and added that the team always intended to play some good cricket in the Super 12 round, considering the efforts they had to put in to qualify.

Here's what Ervine stated

“Our seamers hit their straps early on and there was just a little bit more in the wicket compared to when we started off. Raza came to the party as he always does and picked up a few crucial wickets in the middle there,

“It's so special. Especially for the work that we did to get into the Super 12s and we didn't want our tournament to end there. We wanted to come in and play some really good cricket against some top teams and I thought we did that exceptionally well today. I thought after our batting performance, we thought that we were maybe 20 or 25 short.”
