As it happened, Shamarh Brooks slammed an unbeaten century to floor Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) as Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) romped home comfortably with a 37-run victory in the Qualifier 2 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022.
Green, Wasim dismantle Warriors
Chasing 227 runs, Guyana Amazon Warriors went all guns blazing in the powerplay, however, their top three had to sacrifice their wickets in the bid to maintain the run-rate.
As the asking rate continued to climb, it did no good for the Warriors with wickets falling at regular intervals.
Meanwhile, Keemo Paul scored a 37-ball 56 but as he was sent packing by Imad Wasim in the 18th over; it proved to be the final nail in the coffin.
Eventually, Guyana ended their innings at 189-8, losing the fixture by 37 runs.
Brooks flatten Guyana
Put in to bat first, the Tallawahs lost both of their openers, Brandon King and Kennar Lewis, by the third over. But it ended being the only solace for the Warriors, as Brooks and Rovman Powell reduced them to bits.
Brooks smashed an unbeaten ton leading Jamaica towards a mammoth total. Wasim provided the final flourish with his 15-ball 41* as the side reached 226 runs in 20 overs.
