The  County Championship Division Two saw four matches being resumed on Wednesday ( September 28). Here's the brief report on the action taking place at Worcester, Hove, Nottingham and Derby. 


Worcestershire vs Middlesex

At the start of Day 3, Worcs were at 146/2. The experienced duo of Pieter Malan (93) and Stephen Eskinazi (112) were imperious to keep the team in a dominating state. 

Afterwards, John Simpson (92) and Toby Roland-Jones (52) were the notable contributors as Worcestershire finished the Day on 509, taking a mammoth lead of 284 runs.

Sussex vs Glamorgan

Although Sussex were at 88/1 ahead of Day 3's play, their batting line-up collapsed soon. Tom Haines scored 108* while Charlie Tear hit 56 to see Sussex bundled out for a score of 258 against the opposition's 533. 



After being enforced a follow-on, the hosts have certainly saved themselves from a loss on the back of quickfire knocks from openers Ali Orr (185*) and Haines (121*). Sussex are now at 312/0, and lead by 37 runs.

Nottinghamshire vs Durham

Durham resumed Day 3 on 53/2 at Nottingham. The likes of Nic Maddinson and Matthew Potts contributed 40 each as Durham were all-out for 207. Dane Paterson and Liam Patterson-White scalped three wickets apiece for the home team. 



In response, the knocks from Haseeb Hameed (49*) and Joe Clarke (48*) paved the way for Notts to declare on 121/2, and set a target of 577. At the end of day's play, Durham are at 14/2, with Liam Trevaskis and skipper Scott Borthwick at the crease.

Derbyshire vs Leicestershire

Derbyshire started on 356/2, with already having a lead of 107 runs. Soon captain Billy Godleman was dismissed for a well-compiled 158. Nevertheless, the contributions from Wayne Madsen (92) and Leus du Plooy (43) then helped them to declare on 568/9. Rehan Ahmed scalped five wickets for the visitors. 

At the end of Day 3's play, Leicestershire are at 131/2, with Sam Evans batting on 59*, while Louis Kimber departed after scoring 30.
