The Gujarat Giants are not having the best of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023, having lost four out of their five matches so far. Gujarat's only win came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are winless in the competition thus far.

However, coach Rachael Haynes is confident that the Giants will make it through to the final of the competition.

As per India Today, speaking during their fifth WPL 2023 encounter against Mumbai Indians, the former Australian legend said that the team has been overwhelmed in the past, but are still learning and want to reach the final.

Gujarat ended up losing their match against Mumbai by 55 runs. They mathematically remain alive in the tournament, but will now have to depend on the other side's losses as well to qualify.

Here's what Haynes said

"The reality is that our future is still in our hands. We have to be focused and if we can win our next games, we can also be part of the final too. I have learned heaps and it’s been really nice for me as the head coach.

I see the game now in a different perspective. As the head coach, you have to keep the players motivated. The group that I have got here, are extremely positive and it has made my job enjoyable and a bit relaxed."

In the first match itself, the Giants coped a huge blow after skipper Beth Mooney suffered an injury and was ruled out of the competition. Sneh Rana took over the captaincy reins with Laura Wolvaardt coming into the side as Mooney's replacement.

Rana and Co. meet an in-form Delhi Capitals in their next must-win tie on Thursday.
