Fortune Barishal justified its table-topping tag by defeating Chittagong Kings in a hard-fought BPL 2024-25 final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday, February 7. Captain Tamim Iqbal led the defending champions from the front on the big day to help them secure their second BPL title in two years.

Emon himself top-scored with 78 unbeaten runs from just 49 deliveries with four huge sixes and six boundaries. Fortune Barishal captain and senior opener Tamim Iqbal led his team from the front in the daunting chase by unleashing 54 runs from just 29 balls with nine boundaries and a six. Iqbal’s pyrotechnics at the top ensured the Barishal raced to 57-0 at the end of the opening powerplay.
Shoriful Islam tilted the tide back in Chittagong Kings favor by dismissing a well-set Iqbal and number three Dawid Malan, both in the ninth over of the innings as the Barishal slipped from 76-0 to 78-2 in the space of four balls. Towhid Hridoy, who carted 32 runs off 28 balls, soon followed suite courtesy of Naeem Islam at 96-3 in 10.2 overs.
