As it happened, Adelaide Strikers won in a record run-chase of the Big Bash League's history as Matthew Short, with his hundred carried them home in the 30th match of the ongoing season.

Short, Lynn gets the job done

Chasing 230 runs, Adelaide hit their first roadblock in the form of Ryan Gibson who departed in the second over.

However, with the arrival of Chris Lynn, the game made a 360-degree turn as his 124-run partnership with Short made them ride on the right track in the run-chase.

Adam Hose shone bright with his 22-ball 38, while Short's unbeaten century helped the Strikers achieve the historic victory by seven wickets.

Hurricanes dash to a gargantuan total

Opting to bowl first, Adelaide Strikers were put under pressure straight away as Hobart's openers Ben McDermott and Caleb Jewell operated at full steam and recorded their respective half-centuries in the process.

Adelaide recouped the early damage as the Hurricanes lost a flurry of wickets. However, Zak Crawley and Tim David came to the rescue, playing blinders to take their team to 229/4 at the end of 20 overs.
