Bangladesh prevailed by 88 runs over Bangladesh in Match 11 of the Women's Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday (October 6) at Sylhet.
Bangladesh posts a competitive total
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh didn't get off to a good start as their in-form batters Shamima Sultana (0) and Fargana Hoque (10) early.
However, the duo of Murshida Khatun and skipper Nigar Sultana were clinical to resurrect the team's innings and provide stability. In particular, Sultana found consistent boundaries to slam 53 off 34.
Khatun played an anchor role to contribute 56 off 54 and helped Bangladesh to post 129 on the board.
Trisna's hat-trick power Tiggresses to a big victory
In response, Malaysia started on a very slow note against the proficient Bangladesh bowlers. It was the sixth over, which saw their innings tear away, courtesy of Fariha Trisna's hattrick.
The left-arm pacer managed was immaculate with her line-lengths to dismiss skipper Winifred Duraisingam and in-form Mas Elysa. Then, the Malaysia middle-order could not cope with the pressure, as they were bundled out for 41, and lost the game by 88 runs.
Apart from Trisna's triple strike, Fahima Khatun, Shanjida Akter and Rumana Ahmed scalped two wickets each.
