The first game of the New Zealand T20I tri-series will take place between tourists Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Friday, October 7th.

With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, this tri-series is the last opportunity for both Pakistan and Bangladesh to fine-tune their preparations and zero in on a winning combination.

Both sides have endured dismal times in T20Is lately. While Pakistan did qualify in the finals of the Asia Cup, the approach of their openers, the batting-units' over-dependence on them, and a non-existent middle-order has left them with more questions than solutions.

After a disappointing end to the T20I series at home against England, which they eventually lost 3-4, this series is the last opportunity for Pakistan's batters to find some form ahead of the World Cup.

As for Bangladesh, the Shakib Al Hasan-led unit has managed just 4 wins out of 12 games this season, and, once again the onus will be on the likes of Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan, Afif Hossain and Shakib himself to spearhead a struggling unit ahead of the WC.

Babar Azam: The Pakistan skipper has a brilliant record in New Zealand. In 3 games, he has scored 109 runs at an average and strike rate 54.5/125.28 with 1 50+ score.

Afif Hossain: With 341 runs in 12 innings at an average and strike rate of 37.88/128.67, Afif Hossain has been the standout performer with the bat for Bangladesh this year.

Mohammad Rizwan: The Pakistan keeper has been in red-hot form this year, peeling out 50+ scores consistently albeit at a low strike rate. He will again hold the key for his team.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz: The spin-bowling all-rounder has scored 96 runs at an average and strike rate of 32/124.67 besides claiming 6 wickets.

Haris Rauf: The right-arm seamer has been Pakistan's spearhead in this format over the course of the last 12 months, especially during the middle and death overs. In 13 innings, he has claimed 17 wickets at a strike rate of 22.17.
