West Indies suffered a tough 164-run loss against hosts Australia in the first Test in Perth on Sunday. Chasing 498 to win, only skipper Kraigg Brathwaite provided resistance scoring his 11th Test ton.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Roston Chase, and Jermaine Blackwood got starts but were unable to convert them into big scores, which saw Windies bundle out for 333 in their fourth innings.

Brathwaite, speaking with the media, laid down the importance of picking wickets, something that his bowlers lacked. West Indies managed to scalp just six Australian wickets in the Test, while getting hammered for 780 runs in both innings combined.

Here's what Brathwaite said

"Disappointed with the loss but must commend the batters for the fight. We have to sit down as a bowling unit and find out how we’re going to get 20 wickets. Australia bowled well … there was consideration to go for runs, but losing wickets put us under pressure. We have to sit down and come out with better plans for the second Test.”

The second and final Test will be a Pink-Ball match played at the iconic Adelaide Oval on December 8.
