The highly awaited Asia Cup 2023 clash between cricketing giants India and Pakistan on Saturday had an anti-climatic end.

Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan progress to Super Fours

Persistent rain played spoilsport, causing the high-voltage game to be called off. While the heavens might have denied fans a classic showdown, they indirectly paved the way for qualification into the next stage of the tournament - the Super Fours.

Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan had already set a strong precedent by thumping Nepal with a staggering margin of 238 runs. This ruthless performance not only awarded them 2 points but also set the tone for their confident stride in the tournament.

The weather-induced stalemate against India has further bolstered their position, adding a crucial point to their tally. With these accumulated three points in Group A, which includes India and Nepal, Pakistan's berth in the Super Fours is sealed.

Meanwhile, the scenario for India now teeters on the edge of suspense. To seal their spot in the Super Fours, they must now beat Nepal. Any misstep, though highly unlikely could result in a sensational exit for India, propelling Nepal into the Super Fours.

Coming to the IND vs PAK game, India managed to put up 266 runs on the board in 48.5 overs, even after facing an aggressive Pakistani pace attack that rattled the top-order. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan's resilience stood out as both registered crucial half-centuries.

The rain interruptions, which occurred twice during the Indian innings, finally resulted in a lengthy hiatus post the innings, leading to the match's eventual cancellation.
