The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Asia Cup 2023 witnessed an all too familiar sight during the electrifying India vs Pakistan match -  Indian batter, Virat Kohli being undone by Shaheen Afridi's fiery bowling.

Kohli's early departure for a modest four runs sent shockwaves through the Indian camp, especially since the team had already lost captain, Rohit Sharma.

Interrupted briefly by rain, the game resumed with heightened anticipation. Kohli looked set to anchor India's innings. A confident boundary against Naseem Shah had fans cheering, but the real drama unfolded in the seventh over when Pakistan skipper Babar Azam unleashed Afridi.

Afridi, whose growing reputation of having Kohli's number in previous encounters, further cemented his status as Kohli's nemesis. Drawing Kohli forward with a delivery outside off, Afridi's ball cut back sharply, resulting in an inside edge that dismantled the stumps.

As Kohli trudged off, visibly crestfallen, the significance of his wicket was summed up by Pakistan's legendary cricketer, Waqar Younis from the commentary box, who took a cheeky jibe at the Indian maestro

"You can watch it on replay, but you're gone Virat,” said Younis.

While India's early innings hiccup left them teetering at 66/4, hope emerged in the form of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, who took charge and propelled India to 165/4 in 33 overs. While Ishan is batting on 65 off 67 balls, Hardik is going strong at 45 off 59 balls.

The duo will have to carry on for a few more overs if India are to post a challenging total against an inform Pakistan batting lineup.
