Ashes 2023 | 20 Minutes of Hell For England Before Rain Halts Australian Charge

Rain is playing hide and seek at Birmingham as only 20 minutes of play was possible after the action resumed following a first rain break. However, those 20 minutes have left England gasping for breath as Aussie pacers took full advantage of the overcast conditions and have  knocked out both the English openers in a short span of time.

England are 28/2 with the overall lead of 35 and now Root and Pope need to show some application to get England out of this rut. Firstly though, rain needs to stay away from Edgbaston which unfortunately is not the case at the moment.

The weather has not been kind on day 3, unlike the first two days, and the forecast seems to suggest that it will continue its party at Edgbaston for the rest of the day. Cummins and Boland bowled with great venom after the start of play after the first rain break and got a wicket each to put England under pressure.

Now, tt will be pretty interesting to see how England approach their innings from hereon. They have promised an aggressive brand of cricket, fondly called "Bazball," but the conditions and the situation of the game are all stacked against that approach now.

47 overs are still left in the day but it is highly unlikely that we will get all of those today. Let's hope that rain stops soon as this Test match is certainly taking an interesting turn.
