Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 | Knock-outs Round-up

The knock-outs of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 got concluded on Saturday (December 3).  Here's a brief report on all the matches getting transpired at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. 

Qualifier 1: New York Strikers vs Morrisville Samp Army

Invited to bat first, Samp Army lost their key batters Moeen Ali (12), Johnson Charles (1) and Karim Janat (0) early.  The in-form Shimron Hetmyer (1) also failed to contribute in a crunch match. 

Dwaine Pretorius (15) and David Miller (13) were the contributors before becoming a victim to  Jordan Thompson.  Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul and Wahab Riaz picked two wickets apiece as Samp Army were restricted to a score of 81. 

For Strikers, Paul Stirling (1) again fell for a cheap score. Eoin Morgan started off in fine fashion but was cleaned by Janat. Then, Muhammad Waseem continued his brilliance to hit an unbeaten 35 off 16 to help the Strikers seal the finale spot.

Result: New York Strikers won by 4 wickets

Eliminator: Team Abu Dhabi vs Deccan Gladiators

Put to bat first, Deccan Gladiators lost their openers Tom Kohler-Cadmore (6) and Will Smeed (6). The swashbuckling batter Andre Russell could not get off the mark. 

Nicholas Pooran (14) and David Wiese (13) did well to put the team in good stead. In the end, Odean Smith slammed 32 off 15 balls to help Gladiators post 94 on the board. Naveen-ul-Haq picked two wickets for Team Abu Dhabi. 

TAD didn't get off to a good start either, while losing Alex Hales (1) and Chris Lynn (13). Then, Brandon King and Fabian Allen failed to bat deep as well.  Although James Vince contributed 21, and Adil Rashid hit 18*, they lost the game by five runs.

Result: Deccan Gladiators won by 5 runs

Qualifier 2: Morrisville Samp Army vs Deccan Gladiators

Samp Army and Gladiators clashed in the Qualifier 2, with the results earlier in the day. Gladiators opted to bowl first, and took out Charles (7) and Hetmyer (10) in quick succession. 

However, the experienced Moeen Ali sent the balls to all corners of the park, and slammed 78* off 29 balls. David Miller contributed 16* off 13, as Samp Army scored 119 on the board. 


In response, Gladiators lost their top-scorer Kohler-Cadmore (14). Nevertheless, Andre Russell, who was promoted at the top was terrific with his ball-striking abilities to hit 63 off 32 balls. Then, Pooran was composed under pressure to hit 38* off 12 balls and seal the chase with two balls to spare. 

New York Strikers will clash with Deccan Gladiators in the final of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 on Sunday.
