Mumbai Indians won by 55 runs

11:07 PM | After the Harmanpreet Kaur show, the troika of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr brushed away the Gujarat Giants batting line-up with utmost ease.

None of the Gujarat batter had a good game as they bowed down to Mumbai's brilliance, losing their fourth match of the season by 55 runs.

Aayush: Mumbai Indians become the first team to successfully defend a total of less than 200 runs in WPL 2023. They are also officially through to the playoffs.

That's it. Gujarat Giants finish at 107/9. Mumbai Indians gather a 55-run victory.

11:01 PM | Final over of the innings. MI are one wicket away from an easy win.

100 up for Gujarat

10:54 PM | Umpires are checking for a stumping. It's not-out.

Mansi Joshi is the no.11.

The Giants are at the brink of an all-out with Tanuja Kanwar's wicket. She did not trouble the scorers as a sweep caused her dismissal. Matthews takes her third wicket.

Tanuja Kanwar walks out to the middle.

Eighth wicket down for Gujarat Giants in the form of Garth. Nat completes a four-for as Harmanpreet takes a sharp diving catch.

That's five consecutive wins speaking

Kim Garth is the new batter.

Just after Rana shows signs of aggression, she walks back to the pavilion. Nat pushes the ball full as the batter plays on wrong the line and gets lbw.

10:37 PM | Sneh Rana has taken a review. She is adjudged lbw by the on-field umpire... Three reds and it's out.

A finale prediction, already

That's a drop. Kerr loops the ball in the air. Rana goes for a drive but edges it straight to the wicket-keeper Yastika, who put down a chance.

Sushma Verma is in at no.8.

Kerr is running riot. Hemalatha had no option but to go for a hit as the required run-rate crept up. She goes for it but gets caught at long-on.

Aayush: It's just a matter of time that MI close this now. They will not let Gujarat off the hook from hereon.

GG skipper Sneh Rana comes in to bat.

Jintimani Kalita takes a superb catch to end Gardner's night. She backtracks to get hold of the ball as Amelia Kerr also makes her contribution to the wickets tally.

Dayalan Hemalatha is GG's no.6.

This could be it for Gujarat as far as the game is concerned. Harleen goes for a pull but the ball was not there too for the shot. Gets tapped on the pads by the ball. Issy Wong dismisses her.

10:07 PM | Harleen Deol takes a review. She has been given out. The on-field decision stays.

Ashleigh Gardner is the new batter.

Another batter falls on the final delivery of the powerplay. Matthews strikes twice as Sutherland misses a lowey and is given lbw. GG are at 34/3.

9:54 PM | MI have taken a review. They are challenging a wide call. A successful review for Mumbai as the ball was found to be hitting the pads.

Annabel Sutherland is promoted to no.4.

Hayley Matthews breaks the partnership. Flights to ball to invite Sabbhineni Meghana for a loft. The batter falls for the bait and gets holed out at long-on.

Harleen Deol is starting to cut loose now. Scores two back-to-back boundaries off Issy Wong.

9:46 PM | Umpires are checking if the ball has touched any part the bowler's hands as there is a chance of a possible run-out. No, the partnership continues.

9:40 PM | MI bowlers have been right on money so far. GG are at 19/1 after the end of the fourth.

Umpiring under scanner

9:31 PM | Another review is taken by GG. It has worked in their favour. It's not-out.

Aayush: MI too were 1/1 after the end of the first over.

9:29 PM | A brilliant over to start the proceedings. Just one off it.

Harleen Deol strides out to bat.

A dream start for Mumbai Indians and Nat Sciver-Brunt. The ball shapes back in as Sophia Dunkley finds herself plumb in front of the stumps.

9:25 PM | GG has taken a review as the on-field umpire has adjudged Dunkley lbw.

9:23 PM | It's time for the second innings. Sophia Dunkley and Sabbhineni Meghana are the two openers. Nat Sciver-Brunt has the ball in her hand.

Harmanpreet plays a captain's knock

9:10 PM | That was an eventful innings. While Gujarat Giants asserted their dominance in the first half, the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Yastika Bhatia and Amelia Kerr did their job well enough to help Mumbai Indians set a total of 162 runs.

Harmanpreet scored a 30-ball 51. For GG, Gardner took three wickets.

Jintimani Kalita is in at no.10.

Gardner claims second wicket in the over as Amanjot Kaur perishes for a naught.

9:05 PM | They are checking in for a clean catch. It's been given out.

Amanjot Kaur walks in at no.9.

WOW! Harleen is everywhere on the field. Grabs another stunner to send the MI captain packing.

Another fifty score for Harmanpreet. Her third of the season.

Mumbai Indians go past 150 as their captain clubs a hit into the stands.

Dhara Gujjar is MI's new batter.

Harleen Deol, you freak! Throws a ball direct at the stumps from the boundary as Kazi gets dismissed via a run-out.

8:57 PM | MI takes a review. They think it's a no-ball. The on-field call stands.

Humaira Kazi is out in the centre.

A golden duck for Wong. Hits a full-toss straight to Sneh Rana, who takes a catch off her own bowling.

Issy Wong is GG's no.6.

Brilliant diving catch by Garth to dismiss Kerr. The batter tries to go uppish but does not get the timing right. The ball was running away from the fielder but a dive made her not only reach it but also grab it. Tanuja Kanwar provides her team an important breakthrough.

Quick-fire 50-run stand between Harmanpreet and Kerr

Aayush: GG should be disappointed with themselves. They had MI down on the mat but have let them come back in the match with the ongoing partnership between Harmanpreet and Kerr.

The Sutherland experiment must stop

8:41 PM | Harmanpreet is gunning for the runs now. Smashes two fours off Annabel Sutherland's third over.

8:34 PM | Amelia Kerr has started off well. She is batting on 11 off 6 already.

Amelia Kerr walks out to the middle.

What was Yastika doing there? Plays a drive and could not make a notice of the where the ball was as it goes behind her. Runs for a single but Harmanpreet denies as the wicket-keeper remove the bails before she could reach back.

MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is the new batter.

Kim Garth has the last laugh. Found Nat in front of the stumps as the ball smashes her pads.

8:19 PM | GG have taken a review. And the on-field umpire again gets it wrong. Nat departs as the decision is overturned.

Nat is toying with the field. Plays a scoop for a six and then shows her power in another boundary-hit.

8:13 PM | Halfway through the innings, MI have scored just 64 runs at the loss of one wicket. They must get a move on now.

Aayush: Although Mumbai Indians have not lost a wicket after Matthews', Gujarat Giants' bowlers have been very tidy. To be able to restrict these batters is a great effort any day.

50-run partnership between Nat and Yastika

8:05 PM | MI go for the DRS. Nat has been given out by the on-field umpire. The ball-tracking shows the wickets column as green. The decision is changed

An MI fan spotted

7:59 PM | Umpire signals that it's time for a strategic time-out.

Albeit GG claimed Hayley Matthews' wicket, MI recovered well to end the powerplay at 40/1.

7:54 PM | An umpire's review of the run-out. It's not-out. Nat Sciver-Brunt returns back the crease before the wicket-keeper could dislodge the bails.

A good over for Mumbai. Nat gets herself and the team two boundaries as the score now reads 20/1.

7:43 PM | Nat scores the first boundary of the innings. However, Gujarat Giants are still dominating the powerplay.

7:35 PM | MI might be under pressure for the first time in the tournament. They are 1/1 with in-form Matthews already sent back to the hut

Nat Sciver-Brunt is in at no.3.

Massive, massive wicket this for Gujarat. Hayley Matthews drives in the air but the ball finds of the fielder stationed at the cover region.

7:29 PM | As expected, Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia are the MI openers. Ashleigh Gardner to bowl the first over. It's time for ball 1.

Aayush: Gujarat Giants dropped Sophia Dunkley after she scored a 28-ball 65. Now that she is backing in the XI, I reckon that GG have made the right move here.

Get your fantasy teams ready

6:40 PM | Toss will happen in 20 minutes from now.

Pitch Report: The pitch at Brabourne has allowed free-flowing stroke-making. Batters get full value for their shots, with runs galore at this venue. However, it is not one-way traffic. Pacers can extract movement in the initial overs and rattle the opposition. Similarly, spinners can stem the run flow and pick wickets with variations.

Teams leaving for the stadium

Mumbai Indians are riding high on confidence after winning their every match in the tournament so far. On the other hand, it is nothing less than a must win game for Gujarat Giants, who are currently at the second-last position on the points table, having lost three of their four fixtures.
