It has been quite a rollercoaster ride; for the viewers, players and of course me 🤪

But all is worth when the end is so sweet! ❤️

A momentous day for the Netherlands team and for the rich tapestry that the World Cup holds.

17.10.23, a date that would go down in the cricketing books of history.

This is Muskaan Bhatt signing off on behalf of OneCricket.

Until next time!! 🤝

It is their 1st win against a Test playing nation in ODI Cricket! They have defeated South Africa marking an end to their winning streak.

WHAT A MOMENT! 🔥 A collective bowling effort by van Beek, Meekeren, van der Merwe, de Leede.

22:30 (IST) Oct 17

Temba Bavuma is a mood. I mean it. 😂

Bye-Bye Kagiso Rabada!

Netherlands' is just one wicket away from scripting history🤩

22:14 (IST) Oct 17

Bas de Leede strikes!🎯

And it's Gerald Coetzee who has been dismissed.

The ball was high in the air, and Scott Edward called for it and held it safely.

The ball now looks in Netherlands' court 🙌🏻

22:06 (IST) Oct 17

OH NO... OH NO NO NO NO NO!

Logan van Beek dismisses David Miller as the ball hits the top of the off stump.

Miller departs for 43 (52).😓

I think I spoke too soon 😟

21:58 (IST) Oct 17

Is this the turning of tide for South Africa? 🥹

Two fours for David Miller in the 29th over!

21:40 (IST) Oct 17

WICKET !!!!!!!!!!!😵

image-lnuivvhw

Paul van Meekeren clean bowled Marco Jansen 🔥

South Africa is in deep waters now, I'm practically scared on their behalf!

21:32 (IST) Oct 17

CATCH DROP ALERT!

image-lnuin0z3

Did Logan van Beek cost Netherlands the entire game? He dropped a straight and simple catch of David Miller just before the boundary. 🫣

21:21 (IST) Oct 17

Another one bites the dust! 😮‍💨🎶

A big, big blow this and the Dutch are into the all-rounders now. South Africa choking again! Heinrich Klassen is left stunned as he has pulled a nothing delivery straight into the hands of the fine leg fielder. Logan van Beek is the man for Netherlands and this is getting darker and darker for South Africa.

20:59 (IST) Oct 17

KILLER MILLERS' KILLER SIX! 🤩 6️⃣

Could this be a turning moment for the Proteas men or will Netherlands seize the victory today? 🤔

20:52 (IST) Oct 17

I.JUST.HAD.TO. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

20:44 (IST) Oct 17

By the way, here's a fun fact:

Did you know?

Roelof van der Merwe, who initially played 13 ODIs and 13 T20Is for the South African national cricket team, relocated to the Netherlands and acquired citizenship due to limited opportunities in the South African setup. He made his debut for the Dutch in a T20I match against Nepal in 2015, joining an exclusive group of just five players in history to represent two countries in T20I cricket. Since then, he has been a crucial player for the Netherlands, contributing significantly to their cricket efforts.

20:37 (IST) Oct 17

OH MY GOD! WHAT IS HAPPENING??? 2 OVERS 2 WICKETS.

Roelof van der Merwe is on a man on a mission. The Mission you ask? To make NED win. 🎯

South Africa are four down now as van der Merwe picks up his second wicket on just his eighth ball. Rassi van der Dussen departs early with just 4 runs.

20:33 (IST) Oct 17

WICKET NO 3!!!!!☝🏻

Paul van Meekeren joins the party and Aiden Markram is knocked over for just one run. A turning point in the game indeed. 🔥

It is evident that Netherlands is not here to lose, especially today.

20:29 (IST) Oct 17

Time for Temba Bavuma to go back to his 'nap'  IYKYK 🤪

Roelof van der Merwe ate and left no crumbs, clean sweeps Captain Bavuma killer arm-ball 😵

To know more about it, check out this article:

20:19 (IST) Oct 17

QUINNY DEPARTS! 😵

Netherlands' Colin Ackermann draws first blood. 🔥

A flighted off-break around leg from round the wicket, de Kock got down on one knee and went for the sweep but ended up getting hit on the gloves and then on the arms. The ball lobbed and Edwards behind the stumps took a simple catch.

20:09 (IST) Oct 17

Temba Bavuma hits a massive six off Colin Ackermann 😲

19:59 (IST) Oct 17

FOUR!!! 4️⃣ 4️⃣

Quinton de Kock slams SA's first boundary of the game 🔥

19:50 (IST) Oct 17

The second innings has begun with Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock at the crease and Aryan Dutt bowling.

19:25 (IST) Oct 17

Muskaan: 245!!!! It has been a sensational comeback. This innings brings out the true essence of World Cup, doesn't it?

Aashay:  Yes, this is what World Cup is all about!!! Netherlands have ended their innings with 245 on the board. Super fightback this and they would believe!!!! Remember, just a year back in the T20 World Cup, the same Dutch team knocked out an in-form South African unit out of the marquee event. Can they pull the rabbit out of the hat, again???? We shall be back for the run-chase soon...

19:22 (IST) Oct 17

Was that a bird? Was that a cloud? No, THAT WAS A SIX!! 6️⃣

Indian origin, Aryan Dutt slams it out the park. WOW, Just WOW. 🤯

19:11 (IST) Oct 17

Netherlands is evidently giving South Africa all that they have.

Aashay: A tremendous fight being put out by The Dutch, it is definitely going down to the last ball I presume. At one point in time, they were in danger of getting bundled out under 150 but the skipper Scott Edwards has shown lot of heart and character in what would probably go down as one of the finest knocks in World Cup history for Netherlands.

19:06 (IST) Oct 17

WICKET!

image-lnudvqyl

OH NO!😓

Van der Merwe departs at 29 (19).

A swashbuckling partnership between van der Merwe and Edwards was ended by a slower ball from Lungi Ngidi

18:59 (IST) Oct 17

HALF CENTURY FOR THE SKIPPER!!

image-lnudbdyu

Scott Edward showing us what leading from the front means. A sensational 50 from the wicketkeeper-batter.

This knock makes me think about a phrase "Never Stop Believing"

From 82/5 to 203/7, Scott Edward you beauty!🤌🏻

18:43 (IST) Oct 17

35th Over Summary: It's raining again at Dharamsala but this time it's all 4's and 6's🤪

R V D Merwe and S Edwards 🤝

18:35 (IST) Oct 17

Was that Flash? Nah, it was Quinton de Kock!

What a lightning fast stumping by him!!⚡️

image-lnucb1d5Credit: Star Sports 1 HD

A classy bit of glovework from QDK! Lightning fast, as quick as MS Dhoni. South Africa's appeal call worked wonders for them once again. As, Logan van Beek departed for just 10 runs off 27 balls 😯

18:28 (IST) Oct 17

AYE AYE CAPTAIN!  🇳🇱🤩

[Watch] Skipper Scott Edwards single-handed sweep shot is a beauty for the sore eyes:

18:19 (IST) Oct 17

At the end of 29 overs, Netherlands stands at 120/6.

18:13 (IST) Oct 17

I think I spoke too soon🤭

Marco Jansen's deadly yorker sends Teja Nidamanuru back to the pavillion.

Nidamanuru was hit on the back leg in front of the stumps and umpire Richard Kettleborough rose his finger after a long thought and declared it as OUT! However, Nidamanuru decided to review it and it was a wrong decision.

Teja departs at 19 off 30 and the Netherlands Men sink further.😭

18:00 (IST) Oct 17

Are South Africa losing their grip? 🤔

image-lnubbhrz

Could Marco Jansen's dropped catch of Teja Nidamanuru's powerful shot be a ray of hope for Netherlands?

17:37 (IST) Oct 17

WICKET!!!! Half the side has been sent back to the pavillion!😱

Lungi Ngidi's short ball proved deadly for in-form Sybrand Engelbrecht as he was caught out just near the boundary.

Engelbrecht short stint was 19-run long with a four and six straight to the stands.

Will the Proteas men restrict NED below 110? What do you feel?

17:29 (IST) Oct 17

Indian fans seeing South African bowlers breathing fire at Dharamsala 🫣

17:13 (IST) Oct 17

The sun must be shining bright at Dharamsala but not for the Dutch men 😞

WICKET No. 4: Coetzee sents the off-stump rolling as he bags Ackermann's wicket. A tough day for Netherlands :((

image-lnu9l5akAP Photo

PS: I'm still not over Bas de Leede's dismissal 😞

16:52 (IST) Oct 17

WICKET No. 3!

A big loss for the Netherlands team as Bas de Leede gets dismissed at the hands of Kagiso Rabada. De Leede departs for just 2 off 7! 😟

Rabada and de Kock went up to Richard Kettleborough but he was not interested. A spot on decision by South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma and Rabada bagged his second wicket as the ball-tracking showed three reds.

Netherlands are now in serious trouble

16:43 (IST) Oct 17

At the end of powerplay, NED stands at 28/2.

Will SA continue their momentum and give the Men In Orange a run for their money??🧐

16:35 (IST) Oct 17

"O'DOWD" or "O'DOWN" ?! 🫣

Max has been ripped apart! The 2nd NED opener departs at just 18 (25) on the first bowl of the 8th over!

image-lnu878enAP Photo

De Kock and Jansen confidently appealed for a wicket, but umpire Michael Gough denied it. Bavuma opted for a review and there was a clear spike on UltraEdge. Gough changed his decision, and O'Dowd was declared out.

16:30 (IST) Oct 17

🚨MILESTONE ALERT🚨

KG Rabada strikes straightaway and bags his 150th ODI wicket. Rabada is the 5th quickest bowler to notch up 150 ODI wickets for a South African.

16:27 (IST) Oct 17

WICKETT!!

Kagiso Rabada strikes early and hard!🎯

Netherlands opener, Vikramjeet Singh departs at a poor score of 2 (16) in the 7th over. A top edge and excellently caught by Heinrich Klaasen

A powerful start for the Dutch.

O' Dowd has already smacked four 4's!! Those muscles are full of power!!!!!!

16:07 (IST) Oct 17

It's a 4!!!!! First boundary for the day!

Max O' Dowd gets off the mark in style as Netherlands register their first runs with the bat.

PITCH REPORT FOR SA VS NED:

The HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was expected to have a firm surface with a touch of brown grass cover. However, after rain came unwelcomed the pitch is expected to have moisture, which would lead to increased seam movement for pacers in the initial phase.

Moreover, the expected dew in the evening could pose challenges for the bowling side when defending the total with a wet ball. Consequently, the team winning the toss will likely choose to field first.

LIVE UPDATES FROM DHARAMSALA FOR SA VS NED:

Dharamsala experienced morning rain, but the precipitation has ceased, and super soppers are diligently at work, diligently removing water from the covers.

Team Preview Netherlands:

In the first two ODI World Cup 2023 matches, the Dutch struggled to build substantial innings as only Vikramjit Singh, Colin Ackermann, and Bas de Leede made starts without converting them into big scores.

image-lnu0buuxAP Photo

For their upcoming game, the Netherlands' key to success lies in the partnership between Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd. Colin Ackermann, who performed well in the last game, should use his experience to build valuable partnerships in the middle order alongside Bas de Leede and Teja Nidamanuru. The lower middle order, consisting of Scott Edwards, Sybrand Engelbrecht, and Roelof van der Merwe, will play a crucial role in the team's pursuit of victory.

The Dutch bowlers faced challenges in their last game, particularly with Logan Van Beek absent, resulting in a high economy rate. The return of Van Beek would be a welcome boost for the team. Roelof van der Merwe, who rediscovered form in the previous match, should bring that confidence into the upcoming game.

Aryan Dutt has been their standout bowler, and a strong performance with the new ball is essential, supported by Ryan Klein. Roelof van der Merwe and Paul Van Meekeran must deliver tight spells during the middle overs, while Bas de Leede and Ackermann should contribute effectively in supporting roles. These collective efforts will be vital as they face the South African batting lineup.

12:55 (IST) Oct 17

Team Preview South Africa:

South Africa's impressive performance in this tournament is attributed to several factors. Their batting lineup has been exceptional, with players like Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram scoring runs consistently. De Kock's century against Australia showcased his class, especially on a challenging batting pitch. He played a pivotal role in holding the innings together.

image-lnu082ltAP Photo

The Proteas' bowling attack is led by Kagiso Rabada, with valuable contributions from other bowlers, including Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen, making them a formidable force in the competition. Jansen's ability to take wickets in the powerplay has been a key asset, and Rabada's sensational performance in the last game demonstrated their strength in the bowling department.

With their key batters and bowlers in good form, South Africa aim to seize the opportunity to secure a convincing victory and claim the top spot on the points table. The team's overall momentum and performance have been outstanding, and they seek to maintain this level of excellence in their upcoming match against the Netherlands.
