After toiling hard on the field for more than twelve overs, Lucknow Super Giants finally managed to break the mammoth 142-run opening stand between Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in their ongoing group-stage fixture against Gujarat Titans. Young all-rounder Prerak Mankad emerged as the saviour for LSG, as he grabbed a fabulous catch at the mid-wicket boundary to remove Saha, who looked all set for a well-deserved hundred.
The incident took place in the 13th over, when Saha and Gill were leading the Titans towards an above-par total. Seeing all his tactics failing one after the other, LSG skipper Krunal Pandya reintroduced his strike bowler Avesh Khan to deliver the 13th over.
The ace speedster from Madhya Pradesh lived up to his captain's expectations, dismissing Saha in the first delivery of his new spell.
Although it was a short ball and the keeper-batter timed it superbly, Prerak Mankad ran from deep square leg to execute a brilliant catch at the mid-wicket fence, impressing everyone with his commendable athleticism.
However, before getting out, Saha had already done a lot of damage to the visitors, hammering a belligerent 43-ball 81, glittered with ten fours and four huge sixes.
Riding on the blistering opening stand between Saha and Gill, Titans are eyeing a massive total at the moment, placed at 156 for one in 14 overs. Gill is batting on 60, while skipper Hardik Pandya is unbeaten on 10 as of writing.
