IND vs AUS: GCA Official Hints At The Nature Of Ahmedabad Pitch

Since the Test series between India and Australia has begun, the buzz regarding the Indian pitches has taken centre stage.

While fairly sporting pitches were dished out in the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi, the surface in Indore received a lot of flak because of significantly favouring spinners right from the first session on day 1.

Furthermore, after the game concluded, ICC rated the pitch 'poor', handing the venue three demerit points.

While curiosity is built around the pitch in Ahmedabad, an official of the Gujarat Cricket Association has revealed that they are focused on preparing a sporting deck as they haven't received any instruction regarding the matter from the Indian team management.

The official further reckoned that a high-scoring encounter could be on the cards, given how the batters enjoyed playing at the venue in the 2022-23 domestic season.

Here's what the official said

"We haven't received any instructions from the Indian team management and our local curators are preparing a normal track as we have always done through the season. In fact, last Ranji game over here in January, Railways scored 500 plus (508) batting first and Gujarat, although had innings defeat, scored 200 plus in both innings. It won't be too different this time,

"Obviously, last few days, the BCCI's grounds and pitches committee instruct the local curator. But certainly, from our end, our endeavour is to produce a good Test match pitch."

With the scoreline reading 2-1 in India's favour, the decider will be played in Ahmedabad on March 9.
