Gavin Larsen, the selector for the Black Caps, has announced his departure from New Zealand Cricket after serving for seven years.

He will assume a new role as the performance director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club in England and move to the country along with his wife, Karen.

Larsen, a former New Zealand test and ODI player, had previously served as the chief executive of Cricket Wellington and the Cricket Operations Manager before being appointed as the Black Caps' selection manager in 2015.

During his tenure, the Black Caps have played in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup final and the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup final, won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship, and achieved the world's number one ranking in all three formats of the game.

Nicknamed 'The Postman' during his playing days, Larsen expressed gratitude to NZC for allowing him to work alongside the two most successful Black Caps coaches, Mike Hesson and Gary Stead.

Here's what he stated

"The past seven and a half years have just flown by and I’ve relished and enjoyed every minute of it,

"The discussions and deliberations have been robust and challenging, but my enduring memory will always be the quality of the people I’ve worked with – from high performance right through to the administration."

Speaking about the new adventure, the former Kiwi cricketer stated that he is excited to join Warwickshire County Cricket Club, a team with a rich history and tradition, and that he looks forward to contributing to the club's ongoing success.

The veteran selector added that he has fond memories of playing at Edgbaston during his New Zealand playing days and noted the fantastic atmosphere at the ground.
