Do RCB Tumble Proving They’re Demigods of Batting?

On Thursday, Eden Gardens had a showdown between two kings; one was from Bollywood and the other from cricket. In the cricketing battleground, Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders yet again got the better of Bangalore, who always fail to be Royal and Challengers against KKR.

If warriors between keyboards on Twitter had been the Chief Justice of this country, then the senseless war between SRK vs Virat would have been judged by 11 PM on that night. However, fortunately, things don't work like that in this universe.

But, but. The star-faced Bangalore always have had tough times against Kolkata. Remember the embarrassment of 49 all-out? And the latest fixture between these two sides was not just a hard loss for the Challengers, but it took the curtain off various queries that shall be answered.

Always have had firepower in batting

Bangalore never had a problem with their batting. They have always had the firepower in there. However, all those big silk-stocking names have batted in the top three, which has hampered them in the long run. The big names would help RCB win games with their willow on good days. And those good days have been the story for most of the season.

But on bad days, when they failed, an inexperienced could never bail them out of trouble. Two prime reasons for that middle order not getting enough game time because of the silk-stockers doing most of the job and the second being them being frail players.

Big batting never got backing from bowlers

Apart from having a one-off name here and there, the Challengers have struggled with finding quality bowling attacks. And the most problematic aspect has been bowling death overs.

In the last game as well, they were death bowling was all over the place, despite them ruling the play for most of the first innings. However, if your bowlers get smacked by a batter like Shardul Thakur, then you have severe problems in the bowling department. And the problem is that bowling is one-dimensional.

Harshal Patel, Akash Deep, David Willey and Mohammed Siraj, to an extent, are similar kinds of bowlers who struggle when the batters start picking their variations.

Apart from that, all over the years, RCB always have relied on one or two bowlers, and the opposition teams have counter-attacked their weaker bowlers.

Why DK has to bat so low?

Yes, Dinesh Karthik did make a national comeback batting as a finisher. And he had a really good season with KKR batting at number 6 in 2018. But considering the team composition, DK should bat as up at number 3.

Also, it's not like the No. 3 spot would be alien for the stumper, as he has had successful stints for Mumbai and Delhi batting one down. Additionally, he could play both pace and spin, which is what RCB need at the moment after Rajat Patidar got ruled out of the IPL 2023.

Do they tumble proving they’re demigods of batting?

RCB always have had one of the most dangerous batting lineups. From the start of the IPL, Bangalore have a batting-heavy lineup. Take examples of Rahul Dravids, Jacques Kallises, Virat Kohlis, AB de Villierses, Chris Gayles, and Glenn Maxwells - but where have they all batted? In their top order.

After having so much firepower in the batting, the mighty RCB batters have been able to chase a 200+ total once the history of the IPL, which in my limited understanding, is because the demigods like their lineup play with added pressure to prove the world that they are the one level above the rest.
