It's high time in the ongoing ILT20 2025 league where Dubai Capitals (DC) will fight hard against Gulf Giants (GG) in Match 16, to be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on 23rd January from 8 PM IST. With both these sides in desperate need of a win, the fight in this contest is going to be intense.

Dubai Capitals

The Dubai Capitals, led by Sikandar Raza, is placed fourth on the tally with two wins from five games while having four points to their name and a Net Run Rate of -0.404. Coming here after a defining victory against Desert Vipers, Capitals chased 140 inside 18 overs, courtesy of Gulbadin Naib's super effort with the bat scoring 78* from just 51 balls. Earlier, the Vipers were rocked early by the Dubai-based side as Dushmantha Chameera and Zahir Khan picked three wickets each as Naib was again in the picture with a wicket and just 10 runs in two overs. Apart from them, every other bowler grabbed atleast one wicket apiece to bowl them out for just 139.

Gulf Giants

Right at the bottom of the table are the inaugural champions, Gulf Giants, who have had a torrid time on the field so far. One win from four games is not something they would be proud of, while three losses would still be hurting them badly. Giants faced Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the last game and were severely beaten by 37 runs in a one-sided contest. ADKR put 176 on the board, whereas Giants' bowlers Aayan Khan (4/16) and Blessing Muzarabani (2/28) tried their level best with the ball. However, batting let them down, with Ibrahim Zadran and Gerhard Erasmus being the joint-highest scorers with 24 runs. The rest of the batters failed to get going as the opponents put the brake on the run rate.

Dubai International Cricket Stadium - Pitch Report for Match 16

The pitch at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium has been decent for both batters and bowlers, with opportunities arriving at different junctures of the game. Pacers have received considerable support from the surface with seam movement on offer, while spinners have got some help, but it vanishes as soon as the dew makes an appearance. Chasing has been beneficial here, with teams winning four out of seven games. Therefore, teams winning the toss will likely bowl first.

Hitting the charts as the highest run-getter in the ILT20 2025, Shai Hope has been phenomenal for the Capitals, with 213 runs in just five innings coming at a strike rate of 145.89, and his average is an astonishing 53.25.
