STR vs THU, Match 8: Venue Analysis

The Adelaide Oval is reckoned to be one of the best batting wickets in Australia. The surface is very flat and a high-scoring encounter could be on the cards.

STR vs THU, Match 8 - Toss Factor

Since it's a batting-friendly track, the skipper winning the toss might look to bowl first and have a target in front of him. A run-fest is expected in what would be the first full match to be played at the venue this BBL season.

Scenario: If Adelaide Strikers Fields First

Experienced campaigners Wes Agar and Cameron Boyce will be responsible for picking up wickets and restricting the Thunder to a low total if the Strikers are fielding first. In the batting department, hard-hitter Chris Lynn and D'Arcy Short will be the ones won whom the Strikers will rely especially in a big run-chase.

Scenario: If Sydney Thunder Fields First

Tanveer Sangha and Zaman Khan picked up five wickets in between them against Brisbane Heat in the ongoing season. The duo also conceded only 52 runs combined as they will be looking to do the job again in this tie. Cameronn Bancroft and Oliver Davies scored 25 and 35 runs respectively against Heat and now would hope to convert their starts into a substantial score.

Scenario: If Sydney Thunder Fields First

Cameron Bancroft (THU)

Chris Green (THU)

Skipper Chris Green delivered an economical spell of 1/30 (4) against Brisbane. The right-handed player also contributed with the bat with his knock of 30 off 25 which included five fours. Green would look to lead his side from the front by delivering an all-round performance that helps his side in clinching first victory of the ongoing campaign.

Scenario: If Adelaide Strikers Fields First

Chris Lynn (STR)

Destructive right-handed batter Chris Lynn is the leading run-getter in the history of the Big Bash League. The 33-year old is averaging 35.26 with one century and 27 fifties in the league. The Strikers will rely heavily on him to provide them an explosive start especially if they are up against a big target.

D'Arcy Short (STR)

D'Arcy Short is the fourth highest run-getter in the history of the BBL. The left-handed batter averages 37.06 which includes two centuries and 20 half-centuries. The 33-year old is also an important and experienced member along with Lynn in this Adelaide line-up.

STR vs THU, Match 8 - Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Matthew Short (STR)

Matthew Short will don the captaincy hat for the Strikers this season. The right-handed batter was involved against India in the recently-concluded T20 international series held in India. Short couldnt play a significant knock but has a lot of experience in playing in Australia's grandest T20 league. Short is a risky but worthy pick for this category.

Alex Hales (THU)

Former Englishman Alex Hales bagged a golden duck against the Heat in the ongoing campaign. The 34-year old right-handed opening player has been featuring for the Thunder for some time now. The explosive opener might not be in the greatest of form but may return to his best in this contest.
